About

Reading is more than a hobby to me – it’s a passion and a lifestyle.  It’s an escape from the sometimes chaotic, oftentimes monotonous world of everyday life.  I’ve been addicted to books since my dad first taught me my ABC’s on a green Playskool desk complete with magnetic chalkboard and brightly colored plastic letters.8535_255438235654_881640654_8895821_5811037_n

Since then I’ve been devouring books with an insatiable appetite!  I can’t go one day without getting a fix of my reading addiction.  I love all kinds of genres but I mostly read fantasy and historical fiction.  You’ll find all kinds of titles lumped together in my overcrowded bookshelves – classics, horror, books on archaeology and history, and yes, even a few paranormal romance novels.

I’m new to the blog scene (no, I haven’t been living under a rock!) and when I happened upon some great sites dedicated to the love of reading, I was so excited that there were others out there that shared my passion.  Few people in my life can understand my all too frequent (not to mention expensive) trips to the bookstore and my husband wishes I would just get a library card!

After much self-deliberation I decided to join the community and start my own blog where I can give and receive book recommendations, talk about authors and upcoming releases and probably occasionally venture off-topic.  Archaeology, history, movies, music and vampires are bound to enter the discussion at some point.

I also like to call myself a writer.  I participated in my first National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo) event last November and am happy to have my first complete (rough draft, that is) novel manuscript as a result.  I’m also currently collaborating on a fantasy novel with my cousin/fellow book addict.

Thanks for dropping by and do leave a comment!

What are you reading?  Who are your favorite authors?  What should I absolutely have on my bookshelf?

Hi, Jamye it’s nice to meet you, I am Amy. I saw your name on the list for the New Authors Challenge at Alyce’s blog At Home with Books. I am thinking about participating in the challenge and was seeing who else is. I still have to decide on authors too.

My blog is relatively new. I started it in mid-July. It took me a little while to get used to writing book reviews since I hadn’t written any real criticism since law school! But this is a great community and everyone is very nice.
    Enjoy and Happy reading!

Hi Amy, thanks for stopping by! I just started my blog a couple weeks ago and I’m definitely still getting used to everything but it’s been great talking to people about books. I’ll be sure to check out your blog. Let me know if you sign up for the challenge!

    Hello,

    Welcome to the Blogosphere.

‘Salem’s Lot is one of my all-time favorites, although, to be honest, I couldn’t make past book three in the Dark Tower series.

    Until Next Time,

  5. Hi Jamye

I can’t find an email address for you, so please forgive me intruding on your comment wall. I’d like to invite you to write about your favorite books at http://www.bookdrum.com, where you can add information, images, video, music and links to illustrate and explore the books.

Right now, we’re running a $3,000 Tournament and we’ll be offering contract work to the best entries. Why not enter with Salem’s Lot?

    Best wishes
